Toddler

 

To facilitate the natural process of early learning, toddlers are eligible for enrollment at two years of age. They attend three of five mornings a week when they start. By the age of three, they spend five full days. The director builds trust with the toddler and provides individual attention and conversation.

The Montessori environment is especially prepared with precisely manufactured materials to encourage exploration and interaction and lead the child from concrete to abstract learning.

Our learning program for pre-school emphasizes on school readiness which include pre-reading skills; communication and socialization, physical and emotional development.

Children work and play together in small groups in the various learning centers throughout the classroom. The child engages in a variety of education activities. These might include block play, house-keeping, dramatic play, reading, quiet play, and art.

The Kindergarten children start the day in the prepared Montessori environment, which encompasses practical life activities, Montessori equipment sensorial apparatus. This enables a child to self-construct his world, providing the foundation for subsequent learning including reading, writing, and fundamental mathematics.

The children progress into different levels of mathematical and reading abilities. The program includes introduction to science; reading skills, and concepts; social and emotional development;
writing skills and social studies.

The child will be enriched by equipment such as computers, tape recorders, projectors, games, toys, and books. It is in this environment that the child may become involved in meaningful,
self-directed activities.

The Jayakarta Montessori elementary curriculum is international in scope and includes science, social studies, the arts, language, and math.

Our English program which consists of grammar, process writing and oral communication prepares our students for a smooth adjustment in international schools locally and worldwide.

Math skills emphasize training students to be problem-solvers and creative thinkers.

Our students not only excel academically but have self-confidence that enables them to adjust readily to cultural differences. Students who have the basic study skills and a firm foundation in concpets succeed in international school systems with varied curriculum. Feedback from parents of our students indicate a high level of satisfaction with the academic excellence of our program.

Children from ages 6-12 become conceptual explorers. They develop their powers of abstraction and imagination and apply their knowledge to discover and expand their world further.

Children from 9-12 years need a learning environment where questions is encouraged and active research is expected. At this stage, social skills are collaborative learning experiences and concern for justice in the world around them can be developed.

The children are encouraged to pursue their interests and create their own work habits, which the teacher monitors and facilitates in a dynamic way. Much can be learnt about each child through observation. We seek to ensure that each child is given the opportunity to develop his or her full potential.

Lessons vary from individual, to small group, to those involving the whole class. Special emphasis is given to the performing and creative arts and environmental education.

Individual programs are suited to the needs of each child as they move from concrete experiences to abstract concepts through the use of specially designed Montessori materials. The child-centered, adult-guided approach encourages an atmosphere of enjoyable, purposeful work in the classroom.

The classrooms have a high level of social interaction and the children are free to direct their own learning with the support of the director when required.
